The European Economic Area has 30 countries: the 27 EU members plus Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway.
27 + 3 = 30: the EU plus Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway. Switzerland is the one EFTA state left out.

Entered the EEA on 1 January 1994 as EFTA states and have taken part as EU members since 1 January 1995.
The three members that are not in the EU and take part through EFTA: Iceland and Norway since 1994, Liechtenstein since 1 May 1995.
The EU joiners of 2004, 2007 and 2013, each of which came into the EEA through its EU accession: the 2004 joiners on the day they joined the EU (1 May 2004), Bulgaria and Romania from 1 August 2007, Croatia from 12 April 2014.
