The UK freeports

Name the UK's freeports

The UK has twelve freeports, and Northern Ireland has none

A freeport is an area the UK government has chosen for special tax and customs rules, meant to draw investment to places that have missed out. Inside each, sites designated in law give businesses tax reliefs or customs reliefs. England's eight were announced in the Budget of March 2021, and the first began operating that November. Scotland's two, called green freeports there, were chosen jointly with the Scottish Government in January 2023, and Wales's two followed in March 2023. None has been added since, as of 3 October 2026. Northern Ireland was given a £150 million Enhanced Investment Zone instead, which combines features of freeports and investment zones.

Name them all first. Then try the harder part: name them nation by nation.
