Fourteen people were appointed Chancellor of the Exchequer between 1945 and 1979
The Chancellor of the Exchequer runs the Treasury and presents the Budget. This list counts everyone appointed to the job from the start of Clement Attlee's Labour government in July 1945 to the end of the last Labour government before Margaret Thatcher, in May 1979. Fourteen people qualify, serving eight Prime Ministers across three Labour and two Conservative spells in office. Two of the fourteen later became Prime Minister, and one died in office in 1970, the year he was appointed.
Name them all first. Then try the harder part: name them government by government, from Attlee to the 1979 election.
