A production possibility frontier is a diagram showing the productively efficient combinations of two products that an economy can produce with the resources it has.
Productive efficiency
Productive efficiency is when it is impossible to produce more of one good or service without decreasing the quantity produced of another.
From a point inside the frontier to a point on it

InsideAt R the economy makes E1 of education and H1 of healthcare, with some resources idle.
Moving from inside point R to point C on the frontier, education rises from E1 to E2 and healthcare from H1 to H2: up and to the right.
At R the economy is producing less than it could. Some workers, land or machines are idle or used wastefully, so it is productively inefficient.
Moving to C gives more of both goods and costs nothing, because R was wasting resources rather than using them for the other good.
Every point on the frontier is productively efficient: more of one good can only come from less of the other. Points outside it cannot be reached with today's resources and technology.
