Six EU members still use their own currencies
Six of the European Union's 27 members have not adopted the euro as their only currency, as of 28 September 2026. All but one are formally obliged to adopt it one day. The exception holds a treaty opt-out agreed at Maastricht in 1992. The list shrinks whenever a member adopts the euro, and it last lost a country on 1 January 2026.
Name them all first. Then sort them by whether they joined the EU before 2004 or in 2004 or 2007.
