NATO members not in the EU, and EU members not in NATO

Name the NATO members outside the EU and the EU members outside NATO

Thirteen countries belong to only one of NATO and the EU

As of 9 October 2026 NATO has 32 members and the EU has 27. Twenty-three countries belong to both. That leaves nine in NATO only and four in the EU only, 13 in all, and this list counts those 13. NATO is a military alliance and the EU is a political and economic union, so each has its own membership rules and dates. Countries in neither organisation are left out, and so are candidates and aspirants that have not joined.

Name them all first. Then try the harder part: separate the nine NATO-only members from the four EU-only members.
