Twelve countries belong to the CPTPP, and one of them joined after it was signed
The Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership is a trade agreement between twelve countries. Eleven signed it in March 2018, after the earlier Trans-Pacific Partnership had collapsed. It came into force for six of them on 30 December 2018, and the others ratified one at a time, the last in July 2023. Since then one more country has joined: it signed its accession protocol in July 2023, and the agreement came into force for it on 15 December 2024. It is the only country to have joined since the agreement was created. This list counts the countries for which the agreement is in force.

Finishing accession talks does not make a country a member
A country counts once the agreement is in force for it, which needs a signed and ratified accession protocol. Costa Rica's accession negotiations were substantially concluded on 6 May 2026, but it had signed and ratified nothing by 28 September 2026, so it is not on the list. Other applicants, among them China, Taiwan, Ecuador, Ukraine and Uruguay, have not concluded their talks.
