Definition
- Surplus
- A surplus, also called excess supply, is when the quantity supplied exceeds the quantity demanded at the existing price.
Example
Can you think of an example of surplus?
A cinema charges £15 a ticket and has 300 seats, but only 180 people want to come at that price. The 120 empty seats are the surplus, and the price tends to fall.
